直江津駅１２６年ものがたり
The 126 years story of Naoetsu Station
新潟県上越市直江津
ここは直江兼続が継承した直江家の発祥の地です
直江津とは直江の津（＝港）という意味です
昔から交通の要所として栄えていました
Naoetsu Joetsu-shi, Niigata-ken Japan
It is the birthplace of the Naoes whom Kanetsugu Naoe succeeded to here
Naoetsu means Tsu (means port ) of Naoe
It prospered as a point of the traffic from old days
直江津初代の駅舎は
日本海に注ぐ関川のほとりにありました
明治18年（1885年）
今から126年前のことです
The station building of the Naoetsu first generation
Ｉｔ was in the bank of Sekigawa River that flowed into the Sea of Japan
at 1885
It is 126 years ago now
2代目
明治３１年（１８９８年）
The second generation
at 1898
右手に見えるのはいかや旅館
It is a Ｉｋａｙａ hotel to be seen on the right
街から駅の方向を見る

創業は駅より13年も古く明治5年（１８７５）
しゃれた建物は明治４１年（１９０８）に建築された
現在は立て直され、ホテルセンチュリーイカヤとなっている

As for 13 years, the establishment of a business is older than a station; (1875)
The witty building was built in 1908 (1908)
It is rebuilt and becomes now Hotel Ｃentury Ｉｋａｙａ

筆者が生まれる2年前です

スイスの山小屋風です

It is Ikaya hotel to be seen to the right
私は何度この駅から旅だった事でしょう
I have left how many times from this station
今の駅舎 4代目です

新駅舎のモデルとなった豪華客船初代「飛鳥」の今の姿
２００７年以後 ドイツで「アマデア」として活躍しています
飛鳥は何度も直江津港に入港したとのことです
The present figure of luxurious passenger liner first generation "Asuka"

Asuka seemed to enter the Naoetsu port many times

直江津駅舎のイメージは飛鳥と似ていますが
しかし
初代飛鳥の方が美しいですね。
The image of the Naoetsu station building resembles Asuka
but
First Asuka is more beautiful.
2007年 横浜に入港したアマデア（初代飛鳥）
